I am going on holiday to San Francisco and LA and i will be looking to bring back some stuff - a guitar and some SD Cd's as they're half the price in the USA than here in the UK. Does anyone know of any particully good record or guitar guitar shops in the 2 areas? It doesn't matter whereabouts in LA and SF they are, just as long as they are good.

I went to Los Angeles on vacation this past year and went to Amoeba Music on Sunset Blvd. It was really large and they had practically everything under the sun...I would really recommend you checking it out, however, maybe someone from LA can give you a more obscure record shop to check out.

Headline?s pretty cool! If you just want Social D CD?s you?ll probably do fine with Virgin Mega Store or anything along those lines....Headline?s a little bit more "undeground" and focused on punk/hardcore....anyway, decide for yourself, heres the info:

Amoeba Music is all you need to know. There's one in LA on Sunset and one in Berkeley (San Francisco). Don't plan on spending less than an hour in there.

As far as social d goes, Blackhole records in Fullerton is the best in the world.

I guess Amoeba wins the prize. I always can spend a few hours @ the SF store. It's located at the End of Haight St. There are also a lot of vintage, Tattoo, thrift shops on that street so you can definately spend the afternoon there. P.S. if you pick up a weekely or guardian mag there are usually coupons in there for $2.00 off
